As I'm sure many of you have experienced, finding good competent sales and marketing is very difficult. And the concept of 'initiative' is a complete unknown. I've had a 'professional' marketing person say they don't know how to contact a university to organise a seminar there... And the number of people who don't bother following up on leads is ridiculous!!! So, has anyone actually managed to find that incredibly rare breed of person who can actually do what they say they can? I'm in need of good people... not just people who say they're good

Hi Everyone and thanks to Jake for letting me know its cool to post here. If you love Italian then you'll be happy to hear this news. We've been in China 17 years and excited that our newly launched D'Mario's homemade Italian family recipe delivery biz is off to a great start. Right now we're focusing one super authentic, unique dish - traditional eggplant parmigiana, meticulously prepared, available in 1kg tray delivered to your door in Hangzhou and surrounding cities as well. Feel free to inquire on any biz/catering/promotion/event ideas you may have to work together as well. We'll be doing plenty of catering / dinner events along the way. Cheers and thanks kindly, Mario 'n Nana

Hi everyone. I am (visa permitting) supposed to be arriving in Hangzhou in early to mid December. I am a recently qualified EFL/ESL teacher and am moving to start a job with EF. I have joined now mostly to gather information prior to arrival but also to start the process of hopefully meeting fellow expats once I arrive. I am not sure how much information is required here so if the following is too much or too little I apologise. Apart from being an English language teacher I have a PhD in history. I love football, music, reading, history and current affairs. I hope to stay in China for a few years and cannot wait to do some exploring. My current list of 'must visit' places includes The Great Wall, Terracotta Army, and Hong Kong, but I imagine I will add more later. I guess that's it for me for the moment other than 'hi' once again. Regards Meylan1910 (Nick)

I worked at a school with a HAIDA teacher, eventually found out the school was paying Haida 14,500 per month. The teacher saw 7,500 of that. That's a BIG chunk, 52% in fact. They told her they would pay for her TEFL Certificate before she came, then told her once she was here she needed to work for Haida for 2 years to get that. Suffice to say she quit after one year. Haida is a beginners trap for teachers coming to china for the first time (in my opinion). If you are a native speaker, have a degree and TEFL certificate you are much better off working directly for a school (with zero % of your wages going to people who don't deserve it).

The theme park is crap, but not sure about the water park as it was shut when we visited last year. And yes, chances are you will have to wear speedos, as any other type of male swimwear is generally frowned on in China (not to mention foreigners are seen as dirty AIDS-spreading bastards, so they probably wouldn't want you in anyway).
