Yep, my husband is working Saturday AND Sunday. He'll be working for 7-8 days straight, then it's Mid-Autumn Festival and he'll probably work some weekend to make up for those days, too.

  10. (if anyone says by putting it to their mouths and swallowing, I will reach through the internet and strangle you) Seriously, though. This is probably a little late to think about, especially since I'm going on my 4th year here in China, but I was thinking about how other people here drink their water. I'm going to order a water cooler/filtration unit as soon as the G20 is over because up until now, I've been buying bottles of Nongfu (the huge 4L bottles) but after going through one a day courtesy to a water-guzzling husband...yeah, buying water bottles is not the smartest/economical way to go. Actually, I've heard that water here in HZ is undrinkable due to the bacteria and the heavy metals. Therefore, in the past few days, I've unearthed our ancient Brita Pitcher, stuck in a new filter and after boiling the water for a while (to kill the bacteria), I let the water cool down and then run it through the pitcher (to get rid of the heavy metals). Is this the best way to drink water in this country? There's a lot of steps involved, so that's why I'm going to give up on this and just buy the water cooler and have those huge bottles of water delivered. But then I learned that those bottles are also difficult to trust. *heads desk* I want to know what you all do. How do you cope with the lack of drinkable water in this country?

It's hilarious, the reason they gave for wanting people out of the city. Congestion? Give me a break. They're embarrassed of their own citizens, let's be honest here.

In China? Lab tests? Sorry, I'm laughing so hard right now. I don't trust anything in China right now. I don't even go to the hospitals here.

Ah, I see the resentment is strong in this one. (I'm trying to not come off as "too" critical. I don't want this forum closed down for seditious behavior)

How do you drink YOUR water?

I like my water cold, too. So after I boil the crap out of the tap water to kill the bacteria, I put it through the filter to get the heavy metals and then stick the results in the fridge. I guess I'll find out if my method works if I get/don't get stomach cancer in 10-20 years. Yeah, what you said really makes me not want to get the water delivery, but my two-method water making is not that effective, considering how much water we use on a daily basis.

How do you drink YOUR water?

I think this was an episode from Bones, only the woman they used in the ghost wedding wasn't dead to begin with, so they killed her and then apparently took all her bones out? Totally effed up episode and I can't believe this is still a thing. I though Mao's big tantrum was supposed to stamp this kind of shit out. Instead, they just razed a bunch of historical buildings and gave birth to a few generations of "ME FIRST AND EFF THE REST OF YA'LL." Sigh.

Thanks. You are always so useful, dear. (jokes aside, how do you drink water in China?)

What kind of oven do you have? There's recipes online for ovens that go up to 420 Fahrenheit and I have found them more than adequate. If you're using a toaster oven to make pizza, you need to get an oven off Taobao. You can get a decent oven for 100-200 rmb. (still waiting for ours I ordered 2 weeks ago, F#$%#$^#^ g20)
