I am new Hangzhou, so unfortunately I don't have any suggestions for you. Do let us know when you arrange something though.

Wow, that looks great Christopher. I am actually a big fan of Brazilian BBQ! If you are cooking this at home, maybe you can think about hosting a BBQ for a fee? Perhaps some other people are interested as well.
  3. Just a quick update. I visited the school today and spoke with the President of the International College at CAA. She says that the beginner language program for February of 2017 currently does not have the minimum required # of students (5). I think there are 3 so far interested in this, so if any of you have just moved to Hangzhou and looking to start learning Chinese, I think this school might be a good option given the class size will likely be smaller than other universities, so I believe it will help everyone progress faster. It is imperative to contact them asap if you are interested, so they have an idea on the # of students interested in the program. The campus is actually quite nice and modern, and the location is also great. It is right next to West Lake on Nanshan Rd. PM me if you'd like the e-mail address of the office, as I don't think I can post it online. Or visit their website at: http://www.caa-ic.com/en/index.php/ for more information.
  4. Hi Ida, I just moved to the city a few days ago, so I am looking for an inexpensive way to fill the apartment as you mentioned. I see that most of your things are sold, but do you still have any other things for sale that I can come take a look, such as induction pans or pots? Also, where are you located? You can PM me your contact information. Thanks!
  5. Has anyone here tried or heard anything about the Chinese (non-degree) language course offered by China Academy of Art Nanshan campus? I am looking for possible universities to enroll and learn Mandarin, and this one seems to be located near where I would potentially like to live (Shangcheng area). Thanks
  6. Thanks for the replies everyone. My plan is to stay at a hostel for a few weeks when I arrive in Hangzhou, so that I can really go around and figure out the area. The only reason why I brought up West Lake is just from my online research, but sounds like other areas are not so bad after all.
  7. Thanks a lot. I will definitely message you in the near future about this.
  8. Thank you Shanewall and hsuan.yang. As for agencies, how much is the fee? I read that it is typically one month of rent? Is that correct? Apologize for the newbie questions since this would be my first time potentially moving to China.
  9. Hi all, I am possibly moving to Hangzhou early next year, so I've been trying to figure out what the rent prices are like in the city. After some reading, it looks like West Lake area is the place to be in terms of housing. Is that right, or are there other areas that you recommend? Anyhow, I've been surfing 58.com to look into rental prices, but my lack of Chinese is making this a bit hard :) Can you tell me what kind of price range I am looking at if I wanted to rent a place near the lake, preferably close to the subway station as well? I'd be looking for a one bedroom. Thanks in advance.
  10. Hey everyone, I just wanted to introduce myself to the forum real quick. I am thinking of moving to Hangzhou January of next year to 1) study Mandarin 2) explore the startup scene 3) and perhaps teach English if the opportunity arises. I've been reading the Hangzhou subreddit but it's not very active over there ... so I am glad I found this forum. Anyway, I will save my questions for the Hangzhou Q&A forum. Nice to meet you all!!
