Hi there, I really like the look of the Harbin ice festival and I plan on visiting during the holiday over Chinese New Year. The festival is situated in North East China from the beginning of January til the end of February and it looks incredible. The festival features world record sized ice castles and snow sculptures...some of which you can walk through and slide down, famous ice lantern garden shows, firework displays, ice skating & skiing contests plus loads more. Rather than traveling alone I think it would be much more fun to get a small group together, I don't know many people in Hangzhou yet so this would also be a great way to meet some more of you. So far I have spoken to a few people that like the idea, get in touch if you are interested! Plan on going at the beginning of Feb :-) Here are some pictures and some links : http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-china-25606777 http://www.harbinice.com http://www.travelchinaguide.com/attraction/heilongjiang/harbin/ice_snow.htm http://www.chinahighlights.com/festivals/harbin-ice-and-snow-festival.htm Martha
Hi guys, I have some questions concerning the train to Beijing, especially during the upcomming holidays. :) I am planning on going to Beijing and meet a friend there who is flying in from Germany. We have already booked a Hotel and now I need to purchase a train ticket in order to get there January 31.st and come back to HZ by Feb. 9.th. What is the earliest date I can purchase these tickets? Also only three days in advance or longer? I fear if I go to the trainstation three days before all tickets will be sold out (yes, I fear the travels of over a billion citizens...). Also, do any of you have experience taking the train to Beijing? Would you recommend it? Or should I rather fly? Plane tickets seem to be kind of expensive though... Thanks for your help! :)
