Urgent! Samsung phone needed

7 posts in this topic

Hi Everyone!

Does anyone have, or know where I can buy an 'OK' second hand Samsung Note or similar?

My Samsung Note 3 died today and I need a temporary replacement for 2 months. In late October I'm doing a Visa run to see a friend in Busan so was planning on buying a new Note 8 etc then.

So, really it doesn't need to be fantastic but it does need to be useable for at least another 8 weeks.

Also, since I'm on a tourist visa I don't have a Chinese bank account, so no Alipay or Weechat wallet though my housemate would probably help if I asked her to.

Cheers, jane

Doh! Just found this:

Someone who understands the search function. If I lived in America, I'd be running to buy a lottery ticket.

Thanks, Guys ... I'm supposed to be hiking today but if that falls over I've resolved to go buy a new one immediately rather than to mess around with a potentially lame second hand one.

The conversation from 2015 really was informative; I now know to ask for an unlocked, international 4G phone right up front that will also work with my current plan.

Also being aware that it will come loaded with all the latest & greatest regulation malware/spyware at no extra expense was weird but important to know. The friend I'll be visiting in Busan is a communications guru so I'll be hoping that he can clean it up and re-install a 'you know what' so I can have 21st century information.

Cheers, jane

OK! Update:

The Gaoxin Computer Market appears to have been replaced by an Ibis Hotel.

There is another multi level computer market at 259 Wenshan Rd , just a few  doors from the old place. It's called Ego and appears to connect at the back to another , larger building of the same name that fronts onto another street at 90 degrees.

These buildings also have booths that sell computer parts, camera gear and mobile phones.

As far as phones go, Apple reigns supreme with some sellers also stocking new and used Samsung, Huwei, Nokia and other (probably local) brands as well as accessories and a couple of repair places.

As it happens, I lucked upon a very helpful guy at the Samsung Repair centre at 242 Wenshan Rd (corner of X Street) who asked me a few questions, fiddled with some settings for a couple of minutes and fixed my phone for free, without asking for documentation etc!

He told me the phone itself is in good condition and should will and truly last until I get to S Korea.
