Animal welfare?

Question

Hi guys,

I was wondering if anybody knows if there is any animal welfare society in Hangzhou. Where I live, somebody put a rabbit cage outside. It's quite a big rabbit. It's been standing outside for at least a week now, maybe longer. The rabbit gets fed some salad or cabbage leaves, but it doesn't get any water. It has to sit in a small cage with nothing protecting its paws from the wire. And except for a cover on top of the cage it's pretty much exposed to all the elements. It's also quite dirty now, as it's basically sitting in its own dirt. I feel quite sorry for it, because obviously somebody didn't want it in their apartment anymore. Do you know if there is any animal welfare society in Hangzhou that could help save the rabbit? I have attached some photos... sorry for the poor quality

Heart-breaking. 2 weeks in a cage without water and sleeping in it's own filth... Maybe letting it lose would be better?  Low chances of surviving but still better than a slow death in a cage...

Taking it in isn't really an option for me. I just thought somebody would know some sort of animal rescue place. I know it's probably rare to find something like that in China...

These kind of things are so often in China. We have the same cage but with a cat in it crying every time we pass by... I wanted to take this cat and asked about the owner because there was a small restaurant nearby and they told me it is their cat and that I should better mind my own business... and poor cat doesn’t have water and sit they days and nights... I really want to put the owners in that cage

What are you waiting for this night get the rabbit outside the cage and release him somwhere or take it with you till you find him a new home.

The first place where i lived in Hz in wen yi lu just close to the Wumei supermarket (the one near the speed way) has a garden on the third floor and i saw many rabbits free to walk around. I not sure if they have endend up on someone kitchen but they seemed happy that time.

    • Hi, I've just started as a tutor in Hangzhou and will be here for the next 6 months. I've never been anywhere beyond Europe before and don't really know anyone here so I'm looking to make new friends. I've just graduated from Cambridge Univerisity and I enjoy going out, socialising and meeting new people. I also have extremely bad taste in music.  Feel free to Private message for my wechat.
    •   Hi, Im Luke, im from England and a native English speaker. I used to live in Spain so also fluent in Spanish. So I can offer English or Spanish tutoring.  I have two years previous experience teaching English as a foreign language to both children, teenagers and adults.  I currently don't have any tutoring so I am therefore free during all afternoons/evenings throughout the week.  If you would like me to teach you or your children, please don't hesitate to contact me. Luke

    • Dude,  you make a few mistakes... Xihu Qu just is the district (and it is really big) where zheda yuquan is located..  It would be best to just go to some agencies like wo ai wo jia. Best is to bring a Chinese friend with you because you will get cheated. Will you study at zheda?? Why dont stay in the international dorm building? It is quite comfortable, I stayed there 2 1/2 years.  From there you have a nice base and you can look around.. Keep also in mind that you normally pay 3 months rent at once,  then 1/2 - 1 month rent to the agency and 1 month deposit.. Around zheda you will pay between 3.5k-4.5k easily.
